Jo Mason

Insolvency Cashier

I joined Parker Walsh in 2026 after 18 years in personal insolvency and enjoy developing my career.

I am a personal insolvency professional with over 18 years’ experience managing large IVA portfolios and leading teams.  I have managed portfolios of up to 6,000 vulnerable clients and led a team of 15 employees while maintaining high standards of compliance and customer service.

Over 25 years’ experience in Financial and Customer Services, with expertise in personal insolvency and customer relationship management. My key strengths include process improvement, team leadership, and delivering high-quality customer service.

At Parker Walsh, I manage day-to-day transactional work including receipts, payments, transfers, and dividend distributions, as well as the opening, administration, and closure of estate bank accounts. I carry out regular bank reconciliations across multiple cases, ensuring accuracy, strong financial control, and efficient case administration.

Qualifications & Training

I have completed training in areas including Customer Code of Ethics, Anti-Bribery, Vulnerable Customer Policies, Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Regulations, and GDPR.

Alongside my formal qualifications, I’ve also gained a “qualification in life” through years of hands-on experience in financial services, as well as managing family life and raising children. It’s helped shape my judgement, resilience, and practical approach to handling everyday situations.

Making a Difference

In a personal insolvency case, I supported a vulnerable client who was feeling overwhelmed by their situation. I acted as their main point of contact, dealing directly with creditors, keeping communication clear, and helping take the pressure off them.

I prepared a meeting between the client and their creditors, making sure all financial information was accurate and easy to follow. By keeping things simple and staying in regular contact, I helped achieve a fair and practical outcome while making the process easier for the client to manage.

Why I love my job

One of the things I enjoy most in my role is working with spreadsheets to bring order to financial data. I get real satisfaction from building and maintaining detailed spreadsheets, and I take pride in making sure the numbers are accurate and reliable.

I also enjoy the problem-solving side—finding smarter, more efficient ways to organise information and improve how things are done.

When I'm not in work

I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children, and my Wire Fox Terrier, Fozzy, who keeps the whole family on their toes.
