Fairline Yachts, a well-known British luxury yacht manufacturer, has entered administration less than two months after being acquired by new investors. Despite this financial setback, the company is continuing to trade, with administrators working to secure a buyer.

The appointed administrators, confirmed that Fairline Yachts, based in Oundle, Northamptonshire, will maintain operations without any immediate redundancies. The firm, which has been building luxury yachts since 1967, has long been a key player in the high-end maritime industry.

The recent troubles come after private equity firm Hanover Investors sold its stake in Fairline Yachts in December 2024, with the company being taken over by Arrowbolt. Following the acquisition, more than 100 employees were made redundant; a significant workforce reduction that preceded the business entering administration.

Despite the challenges, joint administrators remain optimistic about the brand’s future. “The business is continuing to trade as usual,” he stated. “We are thankful for the support and understanding of staff, and there are no redundancies at this time.”

He also expressed confidence in attracting potential buyers. “We are actively pursuing a sale of the business and are confident of a substantial amount of interest given Fairline’s recognised brand and strong heritage,” he added. “We encourage interested parties to make contact with us.”

Fairline Yachts operates key facilities in multiple locations, with its prototype and development teams based near Corby and a testing site at Ipswich Marina in Suffolk. The company’s long-standing reputation in the luxury yacht market makes it an attractive prospect for investors looking to revitalise the brand.

For now, Fairline continues to operate as normal, while administrators seek a new owner who can provide financial stability and ensure the brand’s future in the competitive luxury yacht industry.
