Heston Blumenthal calls for greater urgency in tackling fraud on Companies House

February 15, 2024

Restaurateur, Heston Blumenthal, has called for new measurers to be put in place to stop identify fraud being committed through Companies House. The scammers are setting up a limited company under a similar name to the group and then taking advantage of the brand to receive goods or using overdraft banking facilities.

Companies House is a government register of all limited companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs), there are over 5 million companies registered presently with 500,000 companies being registered each year. Unfortunately, fraud being committed through Companies House is a significant problem, and not just for the famous, it is reported that 10,000 people applied to have their addresses removed from the register after discovering it was being used without their consent.

If you have been a victim of fraud committed through Companies House, you will need to report by calling 0300 123 2040.

In some instances, it may be beneficial to remove your information from Companies House, please contact our office at info@parkerwalsh.uk for more information.
